The fundraiser held at Azahar Costa on 9th February

was a resounding success. It was a complete sell out

and a fantastic 3490€ was raised on the night. Thanks

go to Azahar Costa for a wonderful venue, delicious food and

great service. Kris Cody and Javier who helped us dance the

night away. The children from the conservatorio in Chiclana who

played and sang for us and everyone who helped behind the

scenes and donated prizes for the raffle. The children from the

Al Compas music bar has extended it’s opening hours

to include the evening before Fiesta days, so there’s

live music most of the week. Nice and quiet relaxing bar

with a genial host. If you haven’t been yet, give it a try - it’s well

worth it.

The first Thursday music quiz got off to a fine start last

month at the Lemon Tree, with a really good turn out. A

buffet supper was included and a good time was had by

all. Your host Paul Day (he of the obscure modern tunes) coped

well with lots of good humoured barracking, and has threatened

to do it again on 17th April. More details in due course. Also at

The Lemon Tree on 10th April there’s a friendly Pool match

against Brown’s Bar. All welcome - free snacks.

LA LUZ F.C. meet every week for some International 7 a

side football. Meet new people and have a good time.

We’ve just heard from Ayuntamiento, that there will

soon be a new FREE bus service operating in the town

from 11 p.m. until everywhere’s closed. It’ll be operating

at weekends, during festivals and the days before fiestas.It’s

called “Bus Ocio” and the idea is to help those who want to go

out but leave their cars at home so they can have a drink or

twelve. This is a great idea and should help encourage some of

us to go out and use the facilities Chiclana has to offer at night.

(Like El Coliseo on the last Friday of the month).
