Hi folks- welcome back!
Well, at least the weather is bet-
ter here than in the U.K. recently,
although we have had the worst
levante for many year and little
rain which means more watering
and, of course, more weeding! I
use my bath water on my veg plot as the soapy water
seems to keep some of the pests away.
My veg is going well - lettuce, runner and broad beans,
celery, spinach, radishes, onions, cabbages, peas and I
keep planting every 3 weeks, in fact I’m considering
market gardening!
Right onwards then.....
Pruning ......it’s not too late to prune back climbers for a
summer display, but sap is already rising on fruit trees
and some are fruiting too early due to climate change,
so I would say it’s too late to prune them now.
Planting .....For shade: Primroses,Antirrinhum, Iberis,
Lobelia, Pansies, Busy Lizzies, Petunia.
For the sun: Portulaca, Marigiolds, Zinnias,Phlox,
Scabious, Nasturtiums, Hollyhocks.
Bulbs .... my Daffs, Irises, Freesias and Arun Lilies are
beautiful at the moment and now it’s time to plant some
Anenomes, Grape Hyacinth, Dalñhias and Gladioli for a
summer display.
Kev (my other half) said that everyone has a pool, so to
be different, I put in a maze - and I haven’t seen him
since. I said to Kev “I’ve planted a new rose, and it
needs propping up. In fact I’m thinking of naming it
after you.”
Okay, then, bearing in mind that plants are said to
flourish when praised, I’m off to insult a few weeds.
Bye for now
